For high school students eager to explore career paths, build confidence, and get a taste of college life, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FranU) offers several outstanding programs designed to inspire and prepare the next generation of leaders, especially those interested in healthcare. From immersive summer institutes to hands-on nursing experiences, FranU is creating meaningful opportunities that help teens discover their passions early.
The Franciscan Experience (TFE) Summer Institute
This popular program gives students the chance to dive into faith, service, and leadership through a dynamic, weeklong summer experience. Participants explore Franciscan values and build community while engaging in service projects, workshops, and spiritual reflection. TFE is not just a summer program, it’s a transformative opportunity for personal growth that helps teens sharpen their sense of purpose.

Summer@FranU: Live Like a College Student
FranU also offers a two-day, on-campus adventure where high schoolers can truly experience life as a college student. Summer@FranU includes immersive activities inside the university’s Simulated Environment Teaching Hospital, a theology mock lecture, and opportunities to connect with potential classmates. With only 60 available spaces, this program fills quickly. Registration includes meals and a unique event T-shirt, making it a memorable and valuable introduction to the college experience.
HOSA Future Nurses Camp
Perfect for sophomores and juniors considering a career in nursing, the Future Nurses Program, hosted in partnership with Louisiana HOSA, offers a four-day deep dive into the world of healthcare. Students learn about patient care, health issues, study skills, job readiness, and what to expect in postsecondary education.

Wolfpack Health Fellows Academy
For students interested in more broad health professions, the Wolfpack Health Fellows Academy introduces participants to a variety of medical fields through engaging workshops, skill-building activities, and leadership development.
High school students in 10th–12th grade who meet academic requirements can take college courses at FranU while completing their high school education. The program allows students to experience college-level learning, access university resources, and earn college credits that may transfer to other institutions. With guidance from a dedicated FranU academic advisor and approval from their high school, dual-enrolled students can take up to two courses per term, gaining enrichment and challenge beyond the classroom. This program is ideal for motivated students ready to advance their education and explore new academic opportunities
