As the East Baton Rouge Parish School System moves into 2025, Superintendent Lamont Cole is challenging students, educators, and the community to “Dare to Be GREAT.” His vision prioritizes academic excellence, operational efficiency, and a culture of respect, with a key goal: earning a “B” rating under Louisiana’s accountability system.

To achieve this, Superintendent Cole is focusing on improving literacy and math proficiency, strengthening graduation rates, and closing achievement gaps. He emphasizes the role of educators, students, and parents in driving success, urging everyone to embrace innovation and stay engaged in education.

Guiding this transformation are five key pillars:

  • Globally Ready Students – Preparing students for success in a global economy.
  • Respectful Culture – Creating a supportive environment for students, families, and educators.
  • Excellent Environments – Enhancing school facilities and extracurricular opportunities.
  • Accountable Systems – Using data-driven decision-making and financial transparency.
  • Transformative Experiences – Expanding industry partnerships and innovative learning programs.

Under Superintendent Cole’s leadership, EBR Schools has made significant progress, but challenges remain. He calls on the community to support students through mentorship, volunteerism, and advocacy.

“As we turn vision into action, I challenge everyone: Dare to Be GREAT. Together, we can build a brighter future for our students,” he says.
