In grade school, shopping for school supplies for the year was the only bright side of summer ending. As much as I dreaded going back to school, I did very much enjoy buying the supplies for it. Even though we never had the most money growing up, my parents always made it a priority to make sure I had everything I needed to do well in school! It’s very easy to get overwhelmed and miss some things, so here is a list of the basics:
- Backpack (A sturdy one can last a long time!)
- New Shoes (Like the backpack, a nice sturdy one can last until they grow out of it)
- Notebooks/Binders (Whichever one they prefer, you can do single subject notebooks for each class or a five subject one that you can divide between classes)
- Dividers for Binders
- Folders
- Planner
- Pens (Variety of colors)
- Pencils and Rubber Erasers
- Pencil Sharpener
- Highlighter
- Pencil Bag
- Index Cards
- Plenty of Loose Leaf Paper
- Tissues (Many teachers would appreciate boxes of tissue to leave out for students to use)
- Hand Sanitizer
- Sharpies/Markers
Depending on your child’s grade level, they may need certain supplies for specific classes. For example, if you have an older child they may need:
- Graphing Paper
- Graphing Calculator
- Protractor
- Combination Locks (Some schools have lockers but do not provide locks)
- A Flashdrive
- Locker Organiser
There’s plenty more out there that your children may want! Talk to them and make sure they get everything they need to succeed this school year!
