Over the course of two weeks, the fourth grade students at Parkview Baptist School had to read a book that was on or above their AR reading level. With notes they’ve taken, they would form a rough draft and then finally a written report. But that’s only half the project; next, they would have to decorate a pumpkin. Students crafted the characters out of stories they read. By using their creative minds and whatever they could acquire, they created Greg Heffley, Big Nate, Captain Underpants, Dorothy Gale, and many others. A mixture of fun and education insured student's interest while also encouraging students to read.
