Second graders at Parkview Baptist School recently welcomed Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome to speak about Black History Month and her role as the first female, African American Mayor-President of our City-Parish.
Students shared their knowledge of African American leaders such as Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., George Washington Carver, Misty Copeland, and Muhammad Ali. Then, Mayor Broome spent quite a bit of time answering their questions about her job, pets, work day, favorite singer, and favorite bible verse!
