The Safety Place, Healthy Blue, Our Lady of the Lake Children's Health & East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office to Host Holiday Event for Children & Families
During a baby’s first year, you can expect to change an estimated 2,700 diapers at an average cost of $550 annually. Government programs do not provide diapers, which are a basic need for babies and toddlers. Poor diapering leads to health issues, impacts the wellbeing of children, prevents regular daycare/learning environment attendance, and can interfere with a caregiver’s ability to earn necessary income. 2020 has been a rough year, and we want to love and serve our community during the holiday season.
On Saturday, December 12th from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., The Safety Place, Healthy Blue, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, and Our Lady of the Lake Children's Health are partnering to host Pampers & Papa Noel at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital (8300 Constantin Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70809). The event will benefit those in need in the Greater Baton Rouge community, and allow partnering organizations to distribute free diapers, wipes, cookies, milk and books to participants.
Supplies will be distributed on a first come-first serve basis, and the event will begin promptly at 9 a.m. To avoid a non-moving line & disrupting the hospital's flow of traffic; caregivers should not arrive to line up before 8:30 a.m., follow traffic flow & read signage. For safety purposes, this will be a DRIVE-THRU ONLY event, please buckle up & remain in your vehicle. Only patients & caregivers will be allowed to enter the hospital. Help us prevent the spread of COVID-19! All vehicle passengers over the age of 2 should wear a mask & stay home if feeling unwell.
