In an effort to share the beauty of art and community, the Palacious House of Arts recently installed a mural at the Goodwood Library, where each panel tells the story of how Hurricane Ida affected Louisiana. Panels 1-4 show the slow progression of disaster, showcasing the eye of the hurricane, various evacuation routes, and the eventual aftermath. However, the final panel is meant to be a testament to Louisiana’s strength and vitality. A cypress tree is offset by a golden sky and the tree itself holds tell-tale symbols of Louisiana culture like Mardi Gras beads, dangling mirrored discs, and more. Students created the piano trio titled “Ida” as a response to the hurricane that is superimposed over the artwork. palaciosarts.squarespace.com
