Ochsner Baton Rouge now offers InstaEat, a mobile app that helps users electronically order and pay for meals from the hospital cafeteria. InstaEat is available for anyone who orders from the cafeteria at Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge or Ochsner Medical Complex – The Grove, including Ochsner staff and visitors.

The app provides several benefits, primarily reducing wait times for hospital staff members, allowing them to maximize the mindfulness benefits of their 30-minute break. It also brings more convenience and ordering flexibility for visitors, and it helps maintain social distancing in the cafeteria area during peak service times.

InstaEat allows customers to place orders wherever they are and on their schedule. Orders can be customized, and past orders can be repeated, saving even more time. The app is completely contact-free and supports all major credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

InstaEat was designed by Compass Digital Labs, which specializes in developing electronic products for the hospitality industry. Ochsner Baton Rouge purchased the app with an $11,000 grant from Viral Positivity, a community grant program led by Baton Rouge marketing agency ThreeSixtyEight with support from East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore’s office and Baton Rouge Area Foundation.

“Healthcare settings can be high-stress environments for clinical caregivers,” says Aldo Russo, M.D., Regional Medical Director, Ochsner Baton Rouge. “Most of our employees’ time is spent taking care of others. The InstaEat app ensures the precious time they receive for a break isn’t spent waiting in line.”
