Parkview Baptist School teacher Lori Everett has implemented her faithfulness and patience into her kindergarten classroom environment every day. With 14 years of teaching experience, she encourages her students to do their best and helps them when they struggle. Lori Everett loves her students, their hugs, and their art.

What was your favorite subject growing up?
I loved science! From dissecting things to making chemical reactions, I enjoyed how hands-on science class always was.

What clubs or extracurricular activities were you involved in as a student?
In high school, I was a part of the school choir, Pharmacy Technician Training, and on the yearbook staff. I was also in so many different clubs: Beta, National Honor Society, Students Against Drunk Drivers, and Young at Heart.

Who influenced you to go into teaching?
My Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Patty Walker. She made learning so much fun, I still remember things that I did in her class 30 years ago! I hope I can make that lasting impression on my students.

What is your favorite part of your daily teaching life?
I love when a student is struggling with a concept and then suddenly the “lightbulb” comes on. It is so fun to see their face light up when they finally understand! Also, I love all the hugs and kid art that I get every day!

How many years have you been teaching?
14 years.

What is something interesting about you that your students might be surprised to learn?
My hidden talent is that I am a Claw Machine Queen! An arcade hates to see me coming.

If you could pass along one piece of advice to your students, what would it be?
Trust God, do your best, and He will do the rest!
