According to U.S. News & World Report, Louisiana schools have shown improvement on the latest state rankings. The state moved up five places for Pre-K-12 education, improving to the 41st-best state in 2023. This improvement is similar to the data released earlier this year that shows Louisiana 4th graders ranked #1 in the country in reading growth. Categorically, Louisiana made the following improvements: college readiness (from 42nd-40th), high school graduation (45th-37th), math scores (50th-44th), reading scores (48th-38th), and preschool enrollment (15th-9th). “These positive gains reflect the unwavering commitment educators and policy makers have to improving the quality of education in Louisiana,” says State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley. “In a state long-challenged with educational outcomes, this movement is welcome news; however, we have a long way to go and must keep pushing forward.”
