Louisiana Participates in National Seat Check on September 21, 2024

Car seats and booster seats provide adequate protection for infants and children in a crash. While using these seats is without question, it’s important to ensure your child is in the right seat for their age and size–and that each seat is installed properly. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, child safety seats can reduce fatalities by “71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers when used correctly.” 

Get Car Seats Inspected

Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of unintentional injury-related death among children ages 14 and younger. When used correctly, car seats and booster seats can save your child’s life and prevent life-threatening injuries. As part of Child Passenger Safety week, National Seat Check Saturday is a day for you to receive free instruction on how to correctly install car seats for your children. 

Nine locations around the state will be participating in National Seat Check Saturday:

Monroe: Monroe Public Safety Center – 1810 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive

Shreveport: Sheriff’s Safety Town – 8910 Jewella Avenue

Abbeville: Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana, Vermilion Club – 301 A.A. Comeaux Memorial Drive
