Finding safe, high-quality, and family-friendly content can be a challenge. However, thanks to Future Today’s streaming platforms—HappyKids and Fawesome—and their original series like Family Game Night and Southern Food Truck Wars, families can enjoy fun, engaging entertainment for all ages.
David Di Lorenzo, SVP of Future Today, sat down with us to discuss these incredible platforms and how they’re able to offer a diverse, safe, and free streaming experience.
Tell me about Fawesome and HappyKids and what sets them apart from other free streaming services.
David Di Lorenzo: Fawesome is our general entertainment app, offering a diverse selection of movies and TV series for a broad audience, including families. We feature content from major studios like Paramount and Sony, showcasing blockbuster hits, alongside a variety of films and shows from smaller, independent producers. By working directly with filmmakers, we strive to deliver a little bit of everything to our viewers.
HappyKids is designed specifically for children ages 0–12 and their families. It offers a wide range of content, from early learning favorites like CoComelon to family-friendly movies perfect for watching together.
How do you choose the content for each platform?
Di Lorenzo: There are a lot of dynamic things happening in the kids’ space. Within the app itself, we have capabilities for parents to block shows. If you have a child in preschool range, you can block shows that you don’t want them watching. Everything [on the platform] is kid-safe and fully compliant with regulations.
We like to capture both kids and parents from an early stage, whether they’re looking to watch Sesame Street, CoComelon, Blippi, or Paw Patrol. The app is curated by age range. We also offer a gaming area and a LEGO corner. Here, kids can enjoy popular series like Ninjago and LEGO Friends, along with a variety of other LEGO-themed content.
The app also features a family movies section. We’re always on the lookout for new content, including shows produced globally. It’s a great spot to find family-friendly content that meets children where they are in their development.
What projects should we keep an eye out for?
Di Lorenzo: We’re continuing to review the performance data for Family Game Night and Southern Food Truck Wars, and we’ll likely move forward with second seasons. We also produce user-generated gaming content, where we oversee the process as gamers create 13-episode series around popular games like Minecraft, often following a specific storyline.
We always want to try and bring something new to our audience, and we recently partnered with a Canadian company to bring in Boost New, a unique series designed with children on the spectrum in mind.
