Girl Scouts Louisiana East recently brought together community leaders, supporters, and Girl Scouts for its annual Our Girls, Our Future Luncheon, an event dedicated to championing the potential of the next generation.
Held in Southeast Louisiana, the luncheon served as both a celebration and a call to action, emphasizing the importance of investing in girls through leadership development and meaningful opportunities. Attendees heard from keynote speaker Beverly Brooks Thompson, Ph.D., CFRE, a nationally recognized expert in philanthropy and transformational giving. Drawing from her own journey, Dr. Thompson reflected on how her time in Girl Scouts helped shape her resilience, confidence, and leadership abilities.
Now serving as Managing Partner of Carter Global, Dr. Thompson has led more than $5 billion in donor investments, including the Forever LSU Campaign. During her remarks, she encouraged attendees to consider the lasting impact of supporting programs that empower young girls to lead with purpose.
Funds raised from the luncheon directly benefit the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, a research-based program that helps girls discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop leadership skills. Through hands-on opportunities in STEM, outdoor adventure, entrepreneurship—including the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program—and life skills development, girls gain tools that prepare them for success in school and beyond.
The event also placed a spotlight on the voices of local Girl Scouts, who shared personal stories of growth and transformation. Their experiences served as a powerful reminder of the organization’s mission in action.
With continued community support, Girl Scouts Louisiana East remains committed to ensuring every girl has access to the resources and experiences she needs to thrive, today and into the future.
