Looking for a unique, educational activity to enjoy with your kids this summer? The Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Baton Rouge Branch have announced the return of EngineerIT, a dynamic STEM outreach event for kids ages 6–12. Taking place Saturday, July 19 and Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., this event promises to inspire young minds through hands-on engineering fun right in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge.
EngineerIT offers an exciting opportunity for children to explore the world of civil engineering through live demonstrations and interactive exhibits led by ASCE volunteers and local professionals. Kids will get to build, design, and experiment, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the work engineers do to shape the communities around us. Participating organizations like ECS Limited and Forte & Tablada will bring real-world engineering experiences to life during the event.
After exploring the STEM exhibits, families can head over to the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium to watch the inspiring documentary, Dream Big: Engineering Our World. Produced in partnership with ASCE, the film highlights how engineers around the globe are solving big challenges with creativity and heart.
EngineerIT is included with regular museum admission:
- $15 for adults
- $12 for children and seniors
- Free for LASM members
Families are encouraged to arrive early and explore at their own pace between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on either event day. Whether your child is already fascinated by how things work or just beginning to discover a love for STEM, EngineerIT is a can’t-miss summer activity in Baton Rouge.
