Distracted driving remains one of the leading causes of accidents among teens and young adults, but a new scholarship program is giving Louisiana students the chance to change that narrative. Dudley DeBosier Injury Lawyers recently announced the launch of their For the Future scholarship, which will award a total of $8,444 in prizes to high school seniors and college students who create compelling video content advocating against texting and driving.

The program challenges students to use their creativity to inspire safer roads. Submissions can take the form of documentaries, skits, spoken word, animation, music videos, or interviews—any format that delivers a powerful safety message. “Real change starts with awareness, and awareness begins with education,” says Chad Dudley, Managing Partner at Dudley DeBosier. “We see Louisiana’s youth as the next generation of changemakers.”

Awards will be distributed across four categories: a $4,444 Grand Prize, $1,500 for both the Most Creative and Most Persuasive videos, and a $1,000 People’s Choice Award chosen by public vote on social media. Winners will be announced in March 2026, with top videos featured in Dudley DeBosier’s 2026 Public Safety Campaign on billboards, television, and social media statewide.

To qualify, applicants must be Louisiana residents age 17 or older, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, and be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited higher education institution. In addition to their 1–2 minute video, students are required to submit a 300-word essay reflecting on the importance of road safety and the role young people can play in shifting driving culture.

With the For the Future scholarship, Dudley DeBosier is not only investing in education but also empowering students to lead the charge in making Louisiana’s roads safer for everyone.
