What is the school’s mission and philosophy? The Dunham School seeks to provide students with the opportunity for a college-preparatory education set in the framework of Christian education and example.

We believe every child is a gift from God, and every child can succeed. We look for ways to individualize and optimize learning opportunities for each student and are committed to educating the whole child academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

How does the school differentiate itself from other private schools in the area? Dunham focuses on the individual student while delivering an academic program that includes STEM, robotics, coding, and virtual reality. Harkness, a robust discussion-based methodology applied across humanities courses, prepares students to communicate effectively as they share perspectives. An Apple Distinguished School since 2011, Dunham integrates technology across the curriculum.

What are the core values that guide the school community? Duty, faith, honor, excellence, innovation, and community.

Are there advanced placement, honors programs, or dual enrollment classes available? Dunham offers 25 AP courses and four dual-enrollment classes. Honors classes are available in most subject areas.

What extracurricular activities and clubs are available? In addition to athletics and fine arts programs, Dunham offers a wide array of extracurricular activities and clubs, including the Institute of Leadership, FCA, robotics, BETA club, and Mu Alpha Theta. A complete list may be found on the school website.

How does the school foster a sense of community among students? Students at Dunham are part of a vibrant community that extends beyond the classroom walls. Leadership, travel, and service opportunities along with a variety of clubs, organizations, and traditions ensure students stay plugged in, connected, and supported. Small classes ensure that students are known and prayed for by name by their teachers. Social-emotional learning is a part of every student’s experience through a curriculum developed by our counseling team that focuses on building strong friendships, conflict resolution, and effective communication.

How can parents get involved in the school community? Parents have numerous opportunities to get involved by joining one of the school’s volunteer organizations, including the Dunham Parents Association, Pawbackers, Mens Club, Partners in the Arts, and Pawbackers.
