St. Joseph’s Academy is a Catholic, college-preparatory high school for girls founded in 1868 by the Sisters of St. Joseph. For 157 years, the Academy has stood as a pillar of excellence in the Baton Rouge community. Academy students grow in Catholic faith traditions; become lifelong learners through interaction with master teachers and mentors; enjoy peer relationships; and learn leadership skills in a variety of co-curricular activities, including 12 interscholastic sports and 40-plus clubs and organizations.

SJA provides an environment of excellence where relationships are strengthened and young girls become women of faith, hope and love. The Academy values education that seeks the development of the whole person. An atmosphere of warmth and encouragement promotes academic achievement and the formation of relationships among all members of the learning community, resulting in students’ emotional and social growth.

The mission of St. Joseph’s Academy is to educate young women as responsible and unifying members of the world community. In the spirit and charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph, St. Joseph’s Academy offers opportunities for faith development in the Catholic tradition, academic excellence and personal growth.
