Baton Rouge, LA 70809

Compass Neurodevelopment Center is excited to announce that it is now accepting appointments for new patients at the Baton Rouge and Central, LA locations. The team behind this new Center has years of experience diagnosing and treating neurodevelopmental disorders. Neurodevelopmental disorders include Autism, Intellectual Disability, Learning Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), concerns related to prematurity, and developmental delays. They are estimated to impact 15% of children. This means that approximately 150,000 Louisiana children may have a neurodevelopmental disorder. Formal evaluations are often needed for diagnosis and treatment, and few places offer such services. Compass Neurodevelopment Center was created to meet this need.

The Center is led by Developmental Pediatrician, Steven Felix, MD, and Pediatric Neuropsychologist Traci W. Olivier, PsyD. Dr. Felix has practiced in Baton Rouge for the past 13 years but began in pediatrics over 35 years ago. He has specialized in Developmental Pediatrics for nearly 30 years and is known for developing and growing developmental clinics throughout the United States. He is one of the few Board-Certified Developmental Pediatricians in the State of Louisiana. Dr. Olivier is a fellowship trained Pediatric Neuropsychologist who is also one of the few of her kind in the state. Drs. Felix and Olivier are joined by Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Emily McMann, who specializes in developmental medicine. The team offers comprehensive evaluations and diagnosis; treatment plans; follow-up; and medication management.

The Compass team works with physicians, schools, practitioners, and other professionals to provide excellent care for children with special needs. This unique team has had a long-standing vision of establishing a neurodevelopmental center to serve children’s medical, educational, and psychological needs and is second to none in the region.

Services have recently expanded beyond the Baton Rouge location and into Central, LA with an interdisciplinary Autism assessment clinic. Future expansions will include providing follow-up care for high-risk infants after discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and transition services for adolescents approaching adulthood.
