What is the school’s mission and philosophy?
At Apogee Baton Rouge, we believe each child has a purpose, a unique calling, inherent genius, and the ability to change the world. We believe in education, the development of leaders, and critical thinkers. We believe young heroes should not spend the majority of time at a desk. We believe in free play and being outside as much as possible. We believe in physical education and self responsibility. Through hands-on learning, real life projects and Socratic discussions, young heroes will be able to discover and cultivate the leaders they were designed to be.

How does the school differentiate itself from other private schools in the area? No homework. Our students will complete group projects and achieve academic goals all within the hours which they are at school. We believe time outside of school is intended for family. Period.

Age ranges. We will not be separating children in a K-12th manor. They will be grouped within their developmental age ranges. For year one, we are opening registration to ages 5-7, 8-11, & 12-14. In future years, we will be expanding our age groups to include 15-18.

4+1 schedule. This means 4 days of project work and 1 day of Enrichment. An example of an Enrichment Day could be a baker coming by to lead a cookie design class, a Crossfit coach coming by to lead workouts, or a mechanic showing our students how to change the oil in a car. The possibilities for various skills to be explored during these days are endless!

What are the core values that guide the school community? At Apogee Baton Rouge, we set the standard for our students by embodying ourselves as teachers and administrators, and also expecting our students to live up to our Core Values, Honesty, Integrity, Compassion, Politeness, Loyalty, Honor, & Bravery. Physical health and fitness is non-negotiable on our campus, and there are endless options and opportunities to be physically active. We understand and believe physical health is a precursor to mental health, and our young leaders will learn and understand the physiology of their body and develop the tools and healthy habits to use it to positively impact their lives.

Are there advanced placement, honors programs, or dual enrollment classes available? Our students are on their own individualized journey for their education. They set, track, and achieve their own goals with the support of their teacher. If a student shows interest in any class (honors, advanced, or dual enrollment), they have the option to take those classes. This is one of the advantages of a student-led academic approach.

How does the school foster a sense of community among students? Apogee Baton Rouge is an educational institution that utilizes a project based, student-centered learning environment in order to equip our students with the confidence, competency, and character necessary to live a happy, fulfilling, successful life. Students participate in team projects throughout the year, and are taught how to work together, even when they might not agree on everything. We are more than just academics, we ensure each one of our students is guided to their own unique purpose through social, emotional, spiritual, character & leadership development.

How can parents get involved in the school community? As parents, your active involvement fosters lifelong education for your learners, and your strengths offered add momentum to our whole program. We believe that parents are the primary educators of their young leaders, and parents with our campus will always have a direct say in their young leaders education. Our goal is to use education to strengthen the family unit by making it a journey of growth for the entire family. Family is the foundation of a child’s education, and we see ourselves as your partners in their educational journey. We also encourage parents to follow the same core values we hold our students to; Honesty, Integrity, Compassion, Politeness, Loyalty, Honor, & Bravery.
