Families looking for a fun and educational outing this summer can mark their calendars for Dino Day at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum. Returning on Saturday, June 27, 2026, this beloved annual event invites children and parents alike to step into the world of dinosaurs through hands-on learning and interactive experiences.
The highlight of the day is the chance to see “Jason,” a 66-million-year-old Triceratops skull that has fascinated visitors for the past decade. On display since 2016, “Jason” continues to spark curiosity among young museumgoers, making science even more exciting. During Dino Day, families can get an up-close look at real fossils and even meet a professional paleontologist, offering kids a rare opportunity to ask questions and learn directly from an expert.
Activities run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring a variety of engaging, hands-on stations hosted by museum staff and community partners. Budding scientists can also participate in BASF’s Kids’ Lab chemistry workshops, designed for children ages 6–12, or explore STEAM-focused activities through BASF’s Pop-up Science program.
The fun continues throughout the day inside the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium, where dinosaur-themed shows, including the popular T. Rex, narrated by Sam Neill, will run until 5 p.m., providing an immersive experience that brings prehistoric creatures to life.
Best of all, all Dino Day activities are included with general museum admission, making it an easy and affordable way for families to enjoy a full day of discovery. For parents seeking a memorable, screen-free adventure, Dino Day promises to deliver both fun and learning in one exciting event.
