Due to Coronavirus concerns, many events and festivals scheduled around town have been cancelled or postponed. Here are the current cancellations and postponements. This will be updated as we are made aware of them.

SPORTS

  • The Southeastern Conference announced the suspension of regular season competition for teams in all sports on SEC campuses, as well SEC championship events, until March 30.
  • The Atlantic Coast Conference has canceled the remainder of the 2020 ACC tournament.
  • The Southwestern Athletic Conference has canceled the remainder of the 2020 Men’s and Women’s basketball tournaments.
  • The LSU Baseball vs Ole Miss Series has been cancelled.
  • The Louisiana Soccer Association has canceled all LSA-related soccer events state-wide for the weekend of March 13-15.
  • Baton Rouge Soccer Club is suspending all soccer-related activities (practices, games, activities, travel).
  • Miracle League at Cypress Mounds' activities are suspended until further notice.
  • The Southland Conference basketball tournament has been cancelled.

EVENTS, FESTIVALS, MEETINGS, AND BUSINESSES

  • The St. Patrick’s Day parade scheduled for Saturday, March 14 has been postponed.
  • The New Orleans Bourbon Festival has been postponed.
  • The New Orleans Wine & Food Experience has been postponed.
  • The Kenner Hispanic Fest has been postponed until further notice.
  • The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) has rescheduled India Fest for June 6.
  • The Cajun Dance at UCT Hall that was originally scheduled for March 21 has been cancelled.
  • LASM's Engineering Day, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14, has been postponed.
  • Louisiana Public Broadcasting has postponed its Louisiana Legends Gala. It has been rescheduled to October 22.
  • Holi Festival of Baton Rouge, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21, has been postponed.
  • Hogs for the Cause, originally scheduled for March 27-28, has been cancelled.
  • Forum 35's Uncorked, scheduled for March 19, has been postponed. Forum 35's Community Impact Breakfast, Ebb & Flow Preview Party, committee meetings and volunteer opportunities have also been postponed until further notice.
  • All weekend events at the St. Tammany Art Association have been cancelled.
  • The Music Club of Baton Rouge's Scholarship Luncheon, scheduled for March 19, has been postponed until the fall.
  • Southern University's Founders' Day Convocation has been cancelled.
  • The Providence Corporate Cup 5K race has been cancelled. 
  • The Rotary Club of Baton Rouge has suspended all club meetings through the end of March.
  • Southern University Ag Center has cancelled all scheduled events.
  • The Harlem Globetrotters, originally scheduled to be at Raising Cane's River Center on March 14, announced that they will be suspending planned games on their domestic U.S. tour.
  • EBR Council on Aging has cancelled its annual Crawfish Boil at the Capital City Event Center.
  • Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge has suspended all support groups, art programs, exercise classes, any large group meeting, and all children and family events.
  • All scheduled and/or approved public events in Baker are postponed until further notice.
  • Rockin' the Runway, originally scheduled for April 25 at Manship Theatre, has been cancelled.
  • Museum Day 2020 has been cancelled for the time being.
  • Parents Night Out for Special Needs, originally scheduled for March 13 at St. Jean Vianney Church, has been cancelled.
  • Tigers for Autism Awareness Friday Night Out, originally scheduled for March 13, has been cancelled.
  • BUKU Art + Music Project has been postponed.
  • The Baton Rouge Symphony League has postponed the Mad Hatters Luncheon and Fashion Show.
  • Opéra Louisiane's The Tales of Hoffman has been postponed.
  • Rock N Rowe, scheduled for March 19 in Perkins Rowe, is being rescheduled. Rock N Rowe scheduled for March 26 has been rescheduled to May 14.
  • Mat Pilates in Perkins Rowe and Fashion to the Rescue in Perkins Rowe have been postponed.
  • The Food Truck Round Up scheduled for March 27 in Perkins Rowe is being rescheduled.
  • Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre's Dancin' at the Mansion fundraiser, scheduled for March 20 at the Old Governor's Mansion, has been postponed.
  • Anna’s Grace Quarter Marathon, originally scheduled for March 22, has been postponed.
  • Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue adoption days have been cancelled.
  • Public Relations Association of Louisiana has postponed its March 19 monthly meeting at Sullivan's Steakhouse to a future date to be determined.
  • St. Lillian Academy's Cheers for Children, originally scheduled for March 28, has been postponed.
  • New Venture Theatre's production of Annie has been postponed until June 18-21.
  • River City Jazz Masters Concert featuring vocalist Jazzmeia Horn, originally scheduled for March 19 at Manship Theatre, has been postponed. The Hall of Distinction Awards Ceremony reception and presentation has also been postponed.
  • LSU Textile and Costume Museum’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is postponed.
  • Alzheimer's Services' Caregiver Support Groups are suspended through the end of March.
  • Cat Care Center's Open House that was scheduled for Saturday, March 21 has been cancelled.
  • East Baton Rouge Parish Libraries has cancelled Fitness in the Stacks; Garden Discoveries: The Louisiana Iris with Claire Fontenot; Saturday Science with LSU’s Dr. David Young; Authors After Hours; Allumer Horn Quartet Performance; Civic Engagement & the 2020 Census with LORI; Mary Bird Perkins Mobile Clinic Screenings; JOLTcon for Youth & Young Adults; and Recycled Reads Gift Book Sale.
  • LASM is temporarily discontinuing public visits, school field trips, and public programming until April 3.
  • Exit 11 Yard Sale in Grand Coteau and Sunset scheduled for March 21 has been postponed.
  • The 30th annual Sounds of CommUNITY Concert has been postponed.
  • The Madre Habana screening has been postponed.
  • The Red Shoes is postponing programs originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.
  • Manship Theatre has cancelled What Do You Do With an Idea? on March 22 and Drum Tao on March 26.
  • Red Stick Mom Easter Egg Hunt has been rescheduled to May 30.
  • The New Roads Car Show, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14, has been postponed.
  • Istrouma Area Council's Boy Scouts of America's Merit Badge Day; originally scheduled for Saturday, March 14; has been postponed. The Council Eagle Dinner which was to be held on Sunday, March 15 has also been postponed.
  • The French Quarter Fest has been moved to October.
  • BREC has cancelled Flashlight Egg Hunts scheduled for March 13 and March 14. BRECflix Teen Movie Night, scheduled for March 14, has been cancelled. All athletic league play has been cancelled from March 13-15. The BREC Junior Tennis Tournament has also been cancelled.
  • Bella Bowman Foundation has rescheduled Bella's Ball to May 12.
  • The LSU Museum of Natural Science has cancelled Night at the Museum: Amphibians & Reptiles, Museum Special Saturdays: Pollination Station, and Museum Special Saturdays-Salt: The Grain of Life.
  • Sips and Suds at the Stables has been postponed to October 1.
  • LSU Museum of Art will suspend all programming and events effective March 13-May 31.
  • The Young Leaders Academy of Baton Rouge, Inc. will suspend all programs and activities for the next 30 days.
  • The Ebb & Flow Festival, originally scheduled for April 4-5, has been postponed.
  • The Strawberry Festival has been rescheduled to May 8-10.
  • All Livingston Parish Library activities have been cancelled through March 31.
  • Louisiana Children's Museum will be closing its doors from March 16-April 13.
  • The remaining performances of Theatre Baton Rouge's The Fox on the Fairway have been cancelled. The opening of A Doll's House, part 2 auditions for How I Learned to Drive, and spring classes have been postponed. 
  • Knock Knock Children's Museum will be closed through the end of March.
  • Zippity ZooFest originally scheduled for March 28-29 is postponed. New date TBD.
  • Audubon will be closing their admission facilities to the public effective Saturday, March 14 through at least March 28. All Audubon-hosted events through March 28, including Education overnights and Party for the Planet presented by Entergy: Spring Into Action, will be postponed/rescheduled. Events scheduled for after March 28 will be addressed in future communications.
  • Relive WWII Weekend at Old City Hall in Denham Springs has been cancelled.
  • Arts Council of Livingston Parish is closed through the rest of the month.
  • The Baton Rouge Blues Festival has been cancelled.
  • The Hoops to Help Charity Basketball Game has been postponed.
  • Kite Fest Louisiane has been postponed.
  • Kumon of Baton Rouge – S. Harrells Ferry has now cancelled classes through March 31. Home-based learning materials and remote guidance will be provided as necessary. Updates will be sent to families as situation develops.
  • LSU Science Cafe has been cancelled for March, April, and May.
  • Arts Fest and all events connect with it at BRCC have been cancelled.
  • Wings for Autism has been postponed.
  • Special Needs Eggstravaganza, originally scheduled for April 4, has been postponed.
  • 2020 TRENDS in Baton Rouge Real Estate has been rescheduled to August 20.
  • BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo will temporarily close the Zoo to the public beginning March 17. The Zoo tentatively plans to re-open to the public on Wednesday, April 1.
  • Ascension Parish Libraries have suspended public access until Wednesday, April 1.
  • McMains Children's Developmental Center is closed from March 17 to April 13.
  • Bowling in Style for Autism is postponed.
  • The following events have been cancelled: Baton Rouge Orchid Society March 18th meeting; Herb Society of America Baton Rouge Unit March 26th meeting; Story Time in the Gardens April 4th program; Reflections in the Garden April 6th program; East Baton Rouge Parish April 14th monthly meeting; Trees and Trails Field Trips for Spring 2020.
  • The following events have been postponed: East Baton Rouge Master Gardener Plant Sale (A new date will be forthcoming); Gourmet in the Garden (A new date will be forthcoming); and Green Stick Workshop (A new date will be forthcoming.)
  • The East Baton Rouge Parish Library will close all locations to public access beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, and remain temporarily closed until further notice. 
  • USS KIDD Veterans Museum is temporarily closed to the public beginning Tuesday, March 17 until Monday, April 13.
  • Baton Rouge Gallery will be closed through April 30.
  • Families Helping Families' Friday Night Out has been cancelled. Understanding the Opioid Epidemic has been cancelled. Active for Autism has been postponed until November 7.
  • Journey to the Cross and Eggstreme have been cancelled.
  • The Artish Makers Market has been cancelled.
  • Sherman & Balhoff Orthodontics, APDC: mandated closure by the Louisiana Dental Association until April 16. Phones are available for orthodontic emergencies.
  • Baton Rouge, LA: Moving Day, a Walk for Parkinson's has been cancelled.
  • The 2020 Deaf Education Summit has been postponed.
  • The Crawfish Festival, originally scheduled for April 1-3, has been cancelled.
  • Market at the Mill Spring Show has been cancelled.
  • Get Your Rear in Gear has been postponed.

SCHOOLS

  • LSU will hold class in person on Friday, March 13. Classes are canceled the week of March 16-20. Following Spring Break, classes will be held online through the end of the Spring semester.
  • Southeastern Louisiana University athletic events are suspended through March 30. Beginning Wednesday, March 18, face-to-face classes will be transitioned to remote delivery, including online format. In order to allow for more efficient transition, face-to-face classes will not meet from Friday, March 13-Tuesday, March 17.
  • Loyola University New Orleans is moving to online instruction beginning Monday, March 16, for the rest of the spring semester.
  • East Baton Rouge Parish Schools have cancelled/postponed all district and school events until further notice.
  • Nicholls State University's classes will be taught online beginning Monday, March 16.
  • Southern University has cancelled classes from March 15-20. Spring Break will be held from March 23-27. After Spring Break, the campus will resume classes remotely starting March 30 and continue online for the remainder of the semester.
  • Louisiana Key Academy will be closed for three weeks, effective Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3. School will resume Monday, April 6.
  • BASIS Baton Rouge charter school is closing for a month.
  • Ascension Parish Schools and East Baton Rouge Parish Schools: All K-12 schools in the state are closed Monday, March 16 through Monday, April 13. However, Ascension Public Schools will continue classes online.
  • The Dunham School will transition to a distance learning model beginning Monday, March 16 through the conclusion of the Easter Break on Monday, April 13. All extracurricular activities, including athletics, will be postponed. At this time, classes will resume on Tuesday, April 14.
  • Victory Christian Academy will be closed from March 16-April 10. All athletic practices and scheduled field trips during that time have been postponed or canceled. The calendar has been adjusted to allow Easter Break to be had from April 6-10 so that classes may resume on April 13.
  • Baton Rouge International School is closed starting Monday, March 16 until further notice and tentatively until April 13.
  • St. Joseph's Academy will be closed from Monday, March 16 through Monday, April 13. Distance learning will begin on Wednesday, March 18.  St. Joseph's Academy will return to school on Tuesday, April 14.
  • Trinity Episcopal Day School will be closed March 16-20. Please refer to their website for announcements regarding possible additional closures.
  • Hosanna Christian Academy is temporarily closed from March 16-April 20, plus annual Easter Week Holidays from April 13-17/20. Children will be given curriculum via "Distance Learning" protocol during the first four weeks of this closure.

CHURCHES

  • Broadmoor United Methodist Church will suspend all worship services and other activities on their campus for two weeks. They tentatively plan to reopen the church campus on Sunday, March 29.
  • First United Methodist Church is not having Sunday worship services for the next two weeks.
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is closed.

STILL OPEN

  • Painting with a Twist in Baton Rouge will remain open and all events are still happening as scheduled. They have asked that if you are not feeling well, please do not attend. They will reschedule you to another event.
  • St. Landry Parish Tourist Commission is still set to have all events and festivals, including the BREVE Lenten Concert, Bayou Bird Fest, World Championship Crawfish Étouffée Cook-Off, Cajun Accordion Kings IV, Congé, Cycle Zydeco, and Semi-Annual Antique Fair & Yard Sale.
  • Mosquito Joe is open.
  • Family Christian Academy will remain open. They will take Easter Break earlier than currently scheduled. Easter Break will begin March 16 and classes will resume March 23, unless otherwise notified. All of the school's field trips are being rescheduled for late April or early May.
  • LSU Museum of Art and its galleries will remain open for visitors. LSU Museum of Art will maintain normal hours at this time, excluding access to the interactive Pennington Family Gallery.
  • Nursery Rhyme will not be closing.
  • Parkview Baptist School and Parkview Baptist Church Preschool will remain open until further notice.
  • Harlan School of Fine Arts is still holding regularly scheduled classes and has opened Friday Art Workshops from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. for grades 3-8.
  • KinderCare Learning Centers will remain open.
  • The Golden Rule Daycare and Preschool will remain open to serve children already enrolled. They do have an action plan for entry and will remain open unless told to do so otherwise by LADOH, the Governor or President. Check their Facebook page for udates.
  • Audubon's Nature Center's trails, Audubon Park and Riverview, Woldenberg Riverfront Park, the Audubon Park Clubhouse and Golf Course, and Audubon Tennis will remain open and operate as usual. Audubon's private events will only be hosted in the Audubon Tea Room and Audubon Clubhouse for parties under 250.
  • Little Sprouts Mother's Day Out will be open from Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and closed Saturday and Sunday.
  • Playdate Drop-in Hourly Childcare will remain open until further notice. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Fridays from 7:30 a.m.-midnight, Saturdays from 9 a.m.-midnight, and Sundays from 1-7 p.m.
  • Comite Child Development Center will remain open until further notice.
