In 2008, the state seized Capitol High School because the test grades and scores were below average, yet, the high school is returning to the East Baton Rouge Parish System this year. “One of the areas we’re going to target is the ACT,” says the Principal of Capital High School, Brandon Fontenot. “We’re going to target that and support the kids through it, support the staff through it, and make sure everyone has the tools to be successful.” On a beautiful Louisiana Saturday, Capitol High School and EBR Parish School System came together for a community block party to celebrate the school’s return with food, music, and even an alumni basketball game.
