Baton Rouge’s beloved Blue Bayou Waterpark is getting a fresh start. Beginning spring 2026, the park will reopen under new management and a new name—Soak’n Fun®—according to a June 10 announcement from Leisure, Sports and Recreation, LLC (“Leisure Sports”).

The Louisiana-based company, which currently operates Gulf Islands Waterpark in Gulfport, Mississippi, will lease and operate Blue Bayou while the current owners retain ownership. The neighboring Dixie Landin’ Theme Park is not included in the lease agreement and will remain closed.

The rebranding to Soak’n Fun marks a new chapter for the historic park, which has been a staple of summer fun for Louisiana families for decades. Leisure Sports is known for its emphasis on cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction, and they plan to spend the offseason building a team and preparing the park for a grand reopening in May 2026.

This expansion into Baton Rouge also aligns with a milestone for the company—2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Gulf Islands Waterpark. The team hopes to bring the same success and energy to the Baton Rouge community.

Both Blue Bayou and Dixie Landin’ will remain closed throughout the 2025 season. However, families can look forward to an exciting and revitalized experience when Soak’n Fun opens its gates next year.
