The puck will officially drop for the Baton Rouge Zydeco this month. The city’s new hockey team will take on the Columbus River Dragons on Friday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Raising Cane’s River Center. The Baton Rouge Zydeco received its name after an overwhelming response from the community, a total of 8,854 submissions! “We wanted a name that truly represents the spirit and energy of both Baton Rouge and Louisiana, and Zydeco captures that essence perfectly. This team will bring the exciting sport of hockey to the capital city while also offering affordable entertainment in an exhilarating environment for the fans,” says General Manager of Raising Cane’s River Center Wayne Hodes. ■ brprohockey.com
