In his first year as superintendent, LaMont Cole set a bold new direction for East Baton Rouge Parish Schools with a clear challenge: Dare to Be Great. That guiding vision has already led to transformative action, including a districtwide realignment to optimize resources and a pilot program testing later high school start times to support teen health. With a focus on smart planning, transparency, and student success, EBR is proving it’s ready to rethink the status quo—and build a stronger future for every learner.
