For three decades, Step Afrika! has toured the globe and used a blend of technique, agility, and pure energy to make each stepping performance one to remember. Stepping is a percussive, highly-energetic dance that developed through the song and dance rituals performed by African-American fraternities and sororities. This type of dance blends African folk traditions with modern cultural dance moves. Step Afrika! promotes stepping as an educational tool for young people, focusing on working as a team, and understanding cross-cultural differences. The shows integrate songs, storytelling, human and audience participation to leave each viewer with their heart pounding. Recommended for all ages, Step Afrika! is a wonderful experience to show to your children, and is fun for the whole family. The performance will be held on Tuesday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Manship Theatre. ■ manshiptheatre.org
