The West Baton Rouge Museum presents The River is the Road: Paintings by George Rodrigue in honor of the 10th anniversary of Rodrigue’s death. The exhibition is the first of its kind, as it traces 45 years of the Mississippi River in Rodrigue’s paintings, exploring the unique ways he used it as a reference to his Cajun heritage and as a metaphor for the journey of life. George Rodrigue was born in New Iberia in 1944. Among his most famous works is “Blue Dog,” which was first painted in 1984. Wendy Rodrigue, widow of the artist, will be hosting in-person tours of the exhibition for schools in the area during Fall 2023.
