The month of April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. It is a time dedicated to helping children in need and emphasizing the importance of community to prevent child abuse. According to DailyTrib, 1 in 10 children are victims of sexual assault before the age of 18. More than 90% of sexual abuse victims personally know their abuser. To aid in the prevention of child abuse, there are multiple resources available both online and in-person. Organizations around the United States create systems and programs that put families and children first. Speaking up and spreading the word against child abuse and reporting it will help many children from future abuse and assault.
