Mordecai Logan is a 14-year-old who pursues life wholeheartedly. Whether it’s earning a black belt in Tang Soo Do, winning at chess, or practicing coding, he gives his all.
Mordecai shines in the classroom at Sherwood Middle Magnet. He leads his peers as the Vice President of Junior Beta Club and as a member of the National Junior Honors Society. Just last year, he wowed others with his impressive efforts in the Duke TIP program by scoring a 23 as a seventh grader. He qualified for the prestigious Duke TIP Summer Studies program and spent two weeks at Trinity University in San Antonio studying Speculative Fiction, which is reading and writing about alternative worlds. Mordecai will continue to perform on a high level next year as he enters Baton Rouge High.
Mordecai is not only brains, though, he is also a compassionate and kind kid who loves to make people laugh when they need it the most. He actively contributes to the youth group at his church, Rehoboth Christian Center. He loves family vacations, especially cruises, and family fun during game nights. Being a great big brother is also a priority for Mordecai. He takes pride in helping his 11-year-old younger sister, Modica.
Mordecai is doing big things already, but he has his sights set on future goals: becoming a chef and a game designer. He is already taking steps toward his game design dreams by participating in the Futures Fund, a workforce development program that offers digital, literary, visual, and performing arts-based training. He is on Level 3 of the Digital Arts/Coding track, which means he is pretty far along on his digital design journey.
Mordecai Logan’s present and future are unlimited, and that makes him one amazing kid.
