Chloe Guitreau, a 7th grader at Frost Elementary, is a budding artist in the Gifted Art Program at her school. Though she learns techniques with her gifted art teacher, Chloe has a little jump on everyone else because she has been training much longer. Since her father is an artist himself, Chloe has been absorbing skills for quite awhile. Ever since she could hold a crayon, the two have been drawing together. Her father says she has already surpassed his knowledge at that age.

Chloe is fascinated with dragons, an expert on dinosaurs, and a fan of cats. And she loves to draw all three. Sometimes she even creates her own mashup creatures that are part cat and part dragon. Not only does she design original creatures, but she also imagines a backstory for each. She’s a natural illustrator and storyteller. Chloe hopes to parlay those gifts into a dream career with Disney and Pixar. Already developing an eye for animation, Chloe analyzes color and graphics choices in the movies she watches. Recently, she has been most inspired by Coco, even attempting to draw some of the mythical mashup spirit animals in the film.

Chloe does not keep her talent to herself, though. Her great passion is to share her art with others. She is well known at her school for her drawings, and often draws special pictures for her friends. She recently set up her own small art shop next to her father’s booth at the Northgate Festival. She sat with her paper, colored pencils, and a sign with her name, including a $5 price for each drawing and crafted original creations for passersby. The experience solidified her desire to pursue art for her future.

Chloe also thinks of ways to pass on her gift to others. For some friends who are beginning in art, Chloe drafts instructional manuals teaching different techniques. Her mother shares that Chloe really enjoys passing on the knowledge she’s learned to others and teaching them.
