I am starting to see more students begin to adjust to digital learning. I’m so proud of how hard they are working and amazed at their resilience. I know they wouldn’t be handling it as well without your support, so I commend you for that.

The complaint I heard the most as I was checking in over the last week was boredom and being tired of being in the house. So, I decided to create a Remote Learning Challenge. The challenge include a combination of kind things they can do while social distancing and ways to promote positive thinking and assess their emotions.

As for a parent resource for the week, I found this one by the CDC really helpful. It’s titled, Stress and Coping, and its specific to the Coronavirus Pandemic:

I thought it was helpful how this article highlighted signs and symptoms of stress in kids. They are as follows:

  • Excessive crying or irritation in younger children
  • Returning to behaviors they have outgrown (for example, toileting accidents or bedwetting)
  • Excessive worry or sadness
  • Unhealthy eating or sleeping habits
  • Irritability and “acting out” behaviors
  • Poor school performance or avoiding school
  • Difficulty with attention and concentration
  • Avoidance of activities enjoyed in the past
  • Unexplained headaches or body pain

If your child is exhibiting any of these behaviors, the article also has suggestions for how to handle that.
