WHAT IS THE CAMP’S BACKGROUND
For more than 40 years, Camp Woodmont has been a beloved “home away from home” offering boys & girls ages 6 – 15 a traditional summer camp experience of safety, structure, and a strong sense of community. The camp was a life-long dream of founders, Jim and Jane Bennett, former college professors from Atlanta. When they opened the camp in 1981, their vision was, and always has been, to be a partner with parents to give campers the opportunity to build character, develop positive relationships, acquire skills and happy childhood memories that would last a lifetime. Today, the camp is operated by the Bennett’s daughter, Alyson, who continues the legacy of her parents.
The camp is located on 170 acres of beautiful North Georgia woodlands on top of Lookout Mountain (approximately 1 hour north of Huntsville OR 30 minutes South of Chattanooga, Tennessee).
WHAT ACTIVITES ARE OFFERED?
Some of the awesome activities include horseback riding, ball sports, archery canoeing, high ropes & low ropes course, climbing wall, dance, arts & crafts, hiking, drama, ultimate frisbee , and more. Accreditation by the American Camp Association (ACA) and two generations of family management/ownership (70+ years combined experience) gives campers and parents a highly supervised program.
STAFF
Counselors are college-age and live in the cabins with the campers. Many counselors are former campers who want to provide children with the same wholesome and fun environment they enjoyed as campers. Staff to camper ratio averages 1:5. The nondenominational Christian atmosphere is appropriate for children from all faiths.
