Families in the Baton Rouge area have something exciting to celebrate: Louisiana Key Academy (LKA), a tuition-free public charter school network dedicated exclusively to students with dyslexia, has acquired a new and expanded campus that will allow it to serve even more children in the Capital Region.
Located at 5015 Auto Plex Drive, the newly acquired campus is the largest in LKA’s history. For parents of children with dyslexia, this growth represents more than just a new building, it’s an investment in specialized education, confidence-building, and long-term success. The expansion was made possible through the generosity of philanthropist Ryan D. “Jume” Jumonville, whose support will help strengthen educational opportunities for families across Baton Rouge.
The new campus will offer increased enrollment capacity along with thoughtfully designed spaces that meet the unique needs of dyslexic learners. Plans include additional small-group literacy classrooms, hands-on STEAM learning environments, and purpose-built areas that support both academic progress and social-emotional development. These enhancements reflect LKA’s whole-child approach, which focuses not only on reading and writing skills, but also on helping students build confidence and independence.
“This new campus is transformational for our students and their families in Baton Rouge,” says Laura Cassidy, President of Louisiana Key Academy. “It significantly expands our capacity to provide the highly specialized instruction children with dyslexia need to thrive.”
Founded by parents of dyslexic children, Louisiana Key Academy uses evidence-based Structured Literacy instruction alongside a full academic curriculum. LKA currently operates campuses in Baton Rouge, Covington, and Caddo Parish, with rolling admissions available throughout the year. A Jefferson Parish campus is also scheduled to open in August 2026.
For parents searching for a supportive, specialized learning environment for a child with dyslexia, LKA’s Baton Rouge expansion is welcome news, and a hopeful step forward for many families.
