The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is once again spreading holiday cheer with its beloved Adopt an Elf program—a heartwarming initiative that ensures every child feels the joy of the season. Running from November 3–21, the program invites community members to “adopt” a student in need and make their holiday wishes come true.
Each year, hundreds of students experiencing homelessness or financial hardship receive gifts through the program—from cozy coats and new shoes to toys that spark smiles on Christmas morning. Participating is easy: simply visit ebrschools.org/adoptanelf to view a student’s wish list, shop for their requested items, and return all gifts—unwrapped but placed in a gift bag—to Broadmoor Elementary School (9650 Goodwood Blvd.) between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., December 2–4.
Once all the gifts are collected, EBR’s “elves”—a dedicated team of staff and volunteers—sort, wrap, and deliver them to students before winter break, ensuring each child experiences the magic of the holidays.
“The Adopt an Elf program reminds us all of the power of kindness,” says Superintendent LaMont Cole. “I love seeing our community come together to show students that they are loved and cared for and that the holidays are a time for giving, hope, and joy.”
Whether you’re shopping for a warm jacket, a favorite toy, or a special surprise, every gift helps make a child’s holiday season brighter. So grab your sleigh—or your shopping cart—and be part of the magic!
