Looking for family-friendly Halloween fun? The Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) has you covered with Halloween Day at the Museum on Saturday, October 25. This festive day is packed with activities, shows, and spooky fun designed to delight kids and parents alike.

From noon–4 p.m., families can enjoy hands-on crafts like monster bookmark making and Star Wars–inspired straw rockets. A special favorite—the Leaky Cauldron bar—returns this year, serving up whimsical treats such as Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans and frothy Butterbeer. Kids are encouraged to wear costumes and get into the Halloween spirit as they explore the mix of art, science, and seasonal fun.

BASF’s Kids’ Lab workshops, included with admission, start at 11 a.m. with additional sessions at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. This year’s theme, Candy Loves Chemistry, gives children ages 6–12 (with an adult) the chance to experiment with sweet treats while learning about chromatography. These 45-minute, hands-on labs are always a crowd favorite and give kids a chance to learn science in an engaging way.

The Irene W. Pennington Planetarium will feature a lineup of special Halloween-themed shows beginning at 11 a.m. Families can catch Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs, The Worlds Within Star Wars, and the spooky laser show Fright Light. For Harry Potter fans, the day wraps up with The Astronomical World of Harry Potter at 3 p.m.—an interactive, presenter-led fulldome experience exploring the stars and their magical connections. A wand-making station will be available before the show to make the event even more enchanting.

All activities, workshops, and planetarium shows are included with general admission (free for LASM members). For a complete schedule, visit lasm.org.
