The East Baton Rouge Parish School System has launched Band Together EBR, a new campaign to raise funds for marching band uniforms at local high schools. The effort aims to ensure every student musician has the chance to perform with pride, unity, and opportunity.

For decades, EBR high school bands have been a source of excellence and community spirit, performing in Mardi Gras parades, festivals, competitions, and Friday night football games. Beyond music, band programs teach discipline, leadership, teamwork, and creativity—skills that prepare students for college and future careers.

“Band Together EBR is about opening doors,” says Superintendent LaMont Cole. “With proper uniforms, our students can proudly represent our schools and community on every stage they step onto.”

The cost of outfitting a single high school band ranges from $35,000 to $45,000. Many schools are using decades-old uniforms, while others have none at all. Band Together EBR invites families, neighbors, and businesses to invest in these young musicians.

Emily Soule, District 8 board member, emphasizes that uniforms mean more than matching outfits: “A new uniform is a symbol of belonging, unity, and school spirit. When our teens step onto the field or stage together, they gain confidence and a sense of purpose that will carry far beyond high school.”

Community leaders are already stepping up. Amanda Martin, CEO of Studyville, donated $25,000 to kick off the campaign. “Our student-athletes are suited up to represent their schools, and our band members deserve the same opportunity to shine,” Martin says.

Parents and community members can support the campaign by donating through the Foundation for the East Baton Rouge School System at foundationebr.org/bandtogetherebr.

Together, Baton Rouge can ensure its students march forward with pride, opportunity, and a strong sense of community.
