Why It’s Great for Families: Families can experience hours of fun at Blue Zoo Baton Rouge. From stingrays, birds, and reptiles to sharks, clownfish, and seahorses, there are so many things to see! There are even water tables and a pirate ship to explore.

Must-See: Grounds for Greatness: Louisiana and the Nation—this incredible exhibit showcases Louisiana’s impact on the nation and the world.
Why It’s Great for Families: Capitol Park Museum offers a deep dive into the rich history of Louisiana through eye-opening exhibits. During Mardi Gras season, don’t miss the Spanish Town Parade Party—an opportunity for the entire family to enjoy carnival time in a family-friendly environment.
Temperature Setting: 70 degrees
Must-See: Knock Knock! Who’s Here? program. The museum invites the community to share information about their trade or craft. The next event is Saturday, August 16, featuring beekeepers with live bees and honeycombs.
Why It’s Great for Families: Knock Knock Children’s Museum combines play and learning through 18 different Learning Zones, offering families a place to explore for two to three hours or more!

Temperature Setting: 60 degrees
Must-See: The crisp temperature is more than just for comfort—it helps preserve the incredible works on view, like those in the museum’s current exhibition: Carved & Crafted: The Art of Letterpress. You and your family can view this incredible exhibit now through September 21, 2025.
Why It’s Great for Families: Located on the fifth floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge, the LSU Museum of Art invites families to tap into their creative side while getting inspired by the works of art on display.
Temperature Setting: 68–69 degrees
Must-See: Without a doubt, the Mike I exhibit is one of the museum’s most popular. It allows families to see LSU’s first football mascot and learn more about tigers around the world—and the importance of protecting them.
Why It’s Great for Families: Free and open to the public, the LSU Museum of Natural Science features nine dioramas and interactive exhibits for children and parents to explore. Free fun? Count us in!
