The Denham Springs High School robotics team recently made history by becoming the first team from Louisiana to win a division title at the FIRST Robotics World Championship, held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. FIRST—For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology—is the world’s largest robotics competition. High school teams from around the globe are given six to eight weeks to design, build, and program a fully functional, 140-pound robot. This year, 600 of 3,700 teams were selected to compete in the championship event. At the 2025 World Championship, Denham Venom was the No. 1 overall team in the Archimedes Division, winning 9 of its 10 qualifying matches and advancing to the finals alongside teams from countries such as Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, China, Israel, and more.
