Louisiana Key Academy (LKA) is a public, tuition-free school designed exclusively for students with dyslexia. Founded on the belief that every child deserves the chance to shine, LKA equips students with the tools, confidence, and literacy skills needed to thrive both in school and in life. Our mission guides everything we do: A school built for dyslexia. A future built for success.

Serving students in Grades 1–8, LKA provides an educational experience tailored to the way dyslexic brains learn best. Students receive explicit, evidence-based reading intervention delivered by trained educators, alongside a comprehensive academic program that includes STEAM instruction, physical education, the arts, and structured opportunities for creative expression. This balance of literacy support and whole-child development allows students to grow academically while discovering their personal strengths, talents, and passions.

LKA currently operates three campuses — Baton Rouge, Caddo, and Northshore — expanding access to specialized dyslexia education across the state of Louisiana. As demand continues to grow, we are committed to further expansion so more children can experience a school built specifically for them.

One of our defining distinctions is our partnership with the Dyslexia Resource Center and our endorsement by Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, internationally recognized physician-scientists and founders of The Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity. Louisiana Key Academy is the only school in Louisiana to receive this endorsement, affirming the strength of our instructional model, our commitment to the science of reading, and the transformative impact we see in students daily. Research drives our teaching, and every child benefits from tools rooted in decades of dyslexia expertise.
