Silliman Institute

Silliman Institute is nestled amidst the historic rolling hills of the Felicianas. The school offers a private education to students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Silliman began in 1852 as a women’s college and continues the tradition of offering a high quality, college-preparatory curriculum. The school maintains state approval by the Louisiana Department of Education, accreditation by the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). More than 90 percent of Silliman’s graduates attend college. Students are offered the opportunity to enter college with credit through Silliman’s Dual Enrollment Program. Last year’s graduating class received $1.4 million dollars in scholarship offers. Silliman proudly continues many traditions from its college years. Each year, the junior students are awarded their class rings during the Daisy Chain Ceremony, they also receive the responsibility of continuing the traditions of Silliman. The Mother-Daughter Tea is held in the spring for the elementary girls, their mothers, and grandmothers. These rich traditions help Silliman remain a warm and inviting environment.
