Make Time For Yourself

Being a mom is a roller coaster of emotions. There’s happiness while watching the little ones grow, followed by my sadness because of the realization of how fast it happens. There’s anticipation of wanting them to reach milestones, followed by the need and want for them to stay little forever.

It’s the most confusing, beautiful, and exhausting job in the world. I feel like one of the hardest things about being a mother is the daily struggle to maintain our own sense of identity. I’m especially speaking to my fellow stay-at-home moms out there.

Our days are spent feeding, changing, shushing, rocking, cooking, cleaning and balancing every home duty that you can possibly imagine, which can sometimes leave us with very little time to focus on one of the things that is also very important...ourselves.

Sometimes it can be difficult, but moms, we have to force ourselves to make time for us! It is vitally important to set aside time each day to do something that we enjoy. It might be that long bath at the end of the day, or the drink on the back porch at night once the kids are asleep. Maybe it’s that movie night on the couch with the hubby that you have also been neglecting while trying to be super mom. Yes! Your relationship is also very important.

There is nothing wrong with reaching out and asking for help, or a sitter, and accepting the help! You deserve it. Don’t feel guilty for doing what’s best for you and for taking the time to enjoy things that YOU like. You will not regret it. Honestly, this is basically an open letter to myself.
